Subject:
(Unbuilt) Club
Project Number:
0800
Date:
May 1, 1987
Client:
Olympia & York
Location:
Yerba Buena Gardens, between 3rd and 4th Streets on Mission Street, San Francisco, California
Project Name:
Bay Club at Yerba Buena Gardens

Just before Olympia & York decided to withdraw from the Yerba Buena Gardens development, Willis was asked to provide a conceptual design for a large health and fitness club adjacent to the Jessie Street Substation building and across from the church.

Willis designed the building to be in context with the two adjacent brick buildings and to reinterpret the façade of the church in a contemporary manner. The siting of the club crated a plaza across from the developments gardens.
